Fertil-Mulch®

Fertil-Mulch® is a garden mulch made from Doug Fir Sawdust composted with cow and aged horse manure. Within the composting process, the high temperatures kill any existing weed seed and any odor-causing bacteria: so you will not smell the manure! We test our Fertil-Mulch® for heavy metals and pathogens to be rated grade "AA," safe for all types of gardening. During and after composting, the product is screened to achieve a uniform color and texture. When initially placed in your beds, the rich dark color dresses up your area, making your plants illuminate. As the Fertil-Mulch® dries, it becomes a natural lighter brown color, easily fluffed up or watered down to obtain that rich dark "coffee-ground" color again.

Upon testing, heavy metals, PCBs, and oil/grease hydrocarbon levels fell below maximum DOE limits, allowing our Fertil-Mulch® to be rated grade "AA".

How Should I Use Fertil-Mulch®?

Fertil-Mulch® can be used as a top dressing to suppress weeds in place of bark. When it rains or during your watering process, the nutrients seep into the ground, feeding your plants. Even the worms interact with the Fertil-Mulch® by slowly working it into the soil, allowing you to fertilize less. The Fertil-Mulch® helps retain moisture and heat, keeping your plants warm in the winter and damp and cool in the summer.

Another application for the Fertil-Mulch® is as a soil amendment for both vegetable and flower gardens. You can till it in with your existing soil, whether planters or garden beds, to supply the plants with their needed nutrients. Your flowers and veggies will flourish with this addition.

If your grass needs assistance, the Fertil-Mulch® is there to help. After putting the new seed down, just a little sprinkle on top to cover the seed will keep those annoying birds at bay and help retain that needed moisture for new seeds. Even sprinkling a little on top of the existing grass will bring life back into your lawn.
